About this activity
A tour to discover the most important masterpieces of the XVI and XVII century Neapolitan Art. The Certosa di San Martino, on the Vomero hill, is the most important monument of the Naples of the sixteenth century and the best panoramic point of the city. You’ll visit the Church which hosts inside famous works of Cosimo Fanzago, Jusepe de Ribera, Massimo Stanzione, Giovanni Lanfranco, Pietro Bernini e Giovanni Battista Caccini, Guido Reni e Battistello Caracciolo and more. The visit will continue with the San Martino Museum which preserves many works testifying the history of Naples. Particularly you’ll admire the Crib Section with the amazing Cuciniello Crib which reflects the image of the XVIIth Neapolitan Art. The visitor will then have the opportunity to explore the fabulous “Lobby of the Carriages” which exposes some important examples of this means of locomotion, such as the oldest carriage of the city, made of gilded wood between the late XVIIth and early XVIIIth century to transport the noblesse belonging to Queen Maria Cristina of Savoy.
