About this activity
Amsterdam has so much more to offer than the hackneyed clichés of clogs, cheese and coffee shops; it’s a city that boasts Golden Age architecture, a postcard-perfect canal network and more culture than many other Northern European cities put together. The city screams to be explored with museums, art galleries and eclectic neighborhoods like Jordaan plus — of course — the historical Red Light District.
Aboard a comfortable, open-top, double-decker bus, admire these top Amsterdam attractions, as well as some of the city’s lesser-known gems such as Gassan Diamond Factory. Pass Vondelpark, the city’s lovely central park, and perhaps hop off your bus at Western Market to visit the Anne Frank House — arguably Amsterdam’s most thought-provoking museum.
With your ticket, you can remain on the bus for an entire loop (roughly 2 hours) as you listen to the informative audio commentary, or you can hop on and off at any of the 11 stops around the city to see Amsterdam’s enchanting delights.
Want to see the city from the water, too? Upgrade to include a hop-on hop-off canal cruise with your hop-on hop-off tour ticket, and cruise around Amsterdam’s romantic city canals.

We loved this. It was raining a lot, did I say, A LOT and this was a fantastic way to still be in motion and keep try. We did both of the canal tours (2) and the bus line - some overlapping but really nice. We used the Red Bus and that has more to offer than the Green Bus. Highly recommend it.
We elected for the bus tour only as we had booked a separate boat tour. It was quite hard to identify bus stops that tour stopped at compared with other cities we have visited. Also the bus tour does not really show you the parts of the city that you would want to see and instead goes round the outside of the city with a call at a diamond factory.
I wasn't very impressed with this tour. I wouldn't waste the money on doing the Hop-On Hop-Off. The boat cruise was very boring.
Both parts of the tour, the bus and cruising around the canals of Amsterdam were very good. Can fully recommend.
Very enjoyable trip, both on bus and boat. Some pick up points were hard to find, but I believe this is due to local regulations regarding signage.
A great way to tour the city and get your bearings. Then you have a better idea where things are and what you want to see. We did hop off a few times and enjoyed ourselves. Thank you.
A beautiful experience, Hazel free @ must avail services. They covered both transport I.e. road and canal
You need time to take the bus and boats. Some stops on the bus are a waste. Some leave you very far from your destination ie. Ann Frank House. For this site, you must only take the boat. If you follow the map closely, you can figure out the nearest stop. Since the bus takes an hour and 15 mins. for the whole loop and the boat almost 2 hrs., you must give yourself plenty of time if you have a specific time for museums, Heineken Experience, etc.
Great way to get around in such a busy city. Go at your own pace. Loved that it included a boat tour as well.
We only used the Hop on - Hop off canal boats and they were wonderful! This is about the best way to see gorgeous sights in this gorgeous city.
Good place has been show, but hot weather did not help. I think view from boat much better then bus.
My Grand Daughter and I had the time of our lives on this tour...So much fun especially the Boat tour with a fabulous lunch...So glad I booked this...
Excellent service and well worth the cost. We were able to see many areas of Amsterdam that we have not seen before. Buses ran on schedule.
The bus stops around the city were poorly marked making it difficult to find a place to get back on. On a few occasions we would see a bus parked on the street fairly close by, despite waving to the driver they simply ignored us and drove on. Actually we ended up walking a lot more than we rode and eventually had to take a cab back to our ship in order to make the departure time. The boat tour was not much better. The sound system was garbled and it was difficult to understand the narrative. Plus, since the boats were enclosed it was almost impossible to see the sights along the canals from inside. All this coupled with some bad weather made this an unpleasant experience. My wife and I have traveled all over the world and make it a habit at each new city we visit to use the Hop On Hop Off buses and had always had excellent experiences. This time was a disappointment, a first.
Best way to see the city. Convenient and comfortable. One gets to see all the important attractions and more.
Excellent way to see all of Amsterdam from both buses and canals. It covers every views and helps you orientate the city.
no mention of pickup point on the ticket. Even the operator was incorrectly mentioned. 0 score for viator for the horrible ticketing service.
There are several canal tours operated in Amsterdam so it is important that you find the correct one for the Hop on and Hop Off company. Once you have the correct boats there are several routes that they take and you can transfer judiciously so that you see it all. This is the very best way to get an overview of the entire Amsterdam Amsterdam is such an unusual city with so many different types of buildings. You can see them from the boats then decide where you want to explore more, The drivers and guides are very helpful and give lots of important information for your enjoyment,
So glad to have signed up for this tour. I got a full tour of Amsterdam on the very day of my landing in the city. The bus rides were as much fun as the bus rides. And the Gasson Museum was just too much. I am impressed with the efficiency and the very helpful and friendly attitude displayed by all the staff. Thank you so much for making my first day in Amsterdam so memorable.
This Hop-On Hop-Off tour is from Tours and Tickets (Lindbergh Travel) and includes the usage of 3 lines (1 bus + 2 boat lines). In general, the with every bus and boat going guide personal to check tickets and announce the next stop is very friendly and tries to help where can, but the audio guide could be by far more extended. For long periods, just music is played and the tiny facts that are mentioned are repeated on all 3 lines. Also, the advertisement to book other tickets from "Tours and Tickets" for sights at the stops is pretty remarkable. So to sum up, we had higher expectations. From other Hop-On Hop-Off tours like in Florence, we are used to get much more facts and without constantly advertising additional entry tickets with "discount". The tour might be nice for families, where too much information cannot be consumed with constant kids attention, but for couples doing city trips, the 3 lines with the full loop durations of 2h 40m (boat, 11 stops), 1h 50m (boat, 8 stops) and 1h 10m (bus, 11 stops) with the few short overlapping facts is a bit waste of time. We would choose another operator next time, since for pure transportation public transport is cheaper.
Excellent boat and bus tour. You get to see lots of places in short time. I will suggest this anytime.
It's a nice way to get around the city but the app doesn't always work and we had to wait an hour and a half to find a boat. Much of the commentary is the same whether you are on the boar or bus and it also repeats. It's not the same as having a live guide. It's prerecorded commentary.
Was a lot of fun. Every one was very friendly and helpful. They even remembered who we were when we got back on the boat later.
We chose this option to experience the canals and it did not disappoint. The canal tour was probably our favorite part.
Great tour, Amsterdam is a very pretty city and clean, Enjoy the experience and people very friendly
I was very disappointed with this tour. I felt that I was not given enough information to plan my sightseeing to get the most for the time that I had. For example, taking the bus for,the Anne Frank House is not the way to go. The boat put us right there. We were not able to see as much as we would have liked because of wasting time walking.
