We love food tours, and try to do at least one food tour per vacation. We have taken at least 10 food tours over the last few years. This was by far the worst food tour we have done. Our tour was initially rescheduled as the tour guide called us and said that most vendors would be closed on the day we chose, so we were rescheduled for the next day. So the next day our tour guide showed up 15 minutes late as he said he was trying to find a fish vendor as most fish vendors were closed that day. We thought that's why we rescheduled from the day before, but okay. Our first stop was at a chocolate shop, where we sampled a variety of chocolate bars. They were tasty, but all samples in that shop are free anyway, so we could have gone there on our own without paying for a tour. Our second stop was at a vending machine-type place, where the guide fed coins into the machines and we chose a variety of fried or pre-packaged foods. Not what we would normally like to sample, and especially not on a food tour. They tasted like pre-packaged foods, as you would expect. Then he led us on a walking tour to the China town of Amsterdam, but didn't take us into any of the shops to sample any foods. ?? Then he took us to a cheese shop to sample local cheeses, which were good and more of what you expect on a food tour. By this time, everyone was very hungry as we had only sampled chocolate and cheese. Usually on food tours there is so much food you can't sample it all, but this was definitely not the case. Next he said we would have to walk quite a ways to the fish vendor as it was the closest one he could find that was open that day. At that point, everyone was grumpy, tired, and hungry, and we decided to call it quits on the food tour. I mean, what about stroopwafels, poffertjes, Indonesian food, mint tea, and those fries they make with all the various toppings you can pile on them?? Definitely a disappointment, definitely not worth the money we paid, definitely DO NOT recommend.

It was a good tour but it was more historical than food. When I think food tour, I think a tour where we try staple foods. We found that there is no real Dutch cuisine because they’re so diverse. Good info but not really a food tour.

Our guide Tony was super friendly and made it a great tour! The food tastings were delicious, it was a lot of food! What we really liked about this tour was that it was not only about tasting food. We learned so much about Amsterdam with this tour and saw a lot of sights! Highly recommended!
