I am so happy we found this tour. We arrived a few minutes early and saw that there were other people waiting. We all became quick friends. We ended up leaving about 10 minutes late as there was a party of 7 that didn't show up. I think it was very generous of the tour guide, Tal, to wait for them. We ended up having to depart without them. They really missed out. We were able to see a lot of the local spots and try the local restaurants. Then we did go on to the touristy spots and they were just as amazing. I loved that our guide was very well versed in the history of the country and could answer all of our questions. It was beautiful as well as educational. I would recommend this tour highly!
Apostle and Neils were great as guides for the trip. They were informative, good drivers, knowledgeable of the history and insight of the places covered. We highly recommend this tour.
I did this tour with my elderly mom and it was just perfect. I would highly recommend the smaller group tour if going with someone who is slower in walking and also its a more personal experience. Jan our guide was awesome and informative and we loved every stop and had time to do things leisurely without rushing because of the smaller group. We had a nice amount of free time too. Highly recommend!
A small group is a perfect size for this type of tour. Our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable. Really recommend this trip
Neil was our driver and was very informative, friendly and accommodating. Took some back ways around and parked at the opposite end of the windmills from the giant busses so we were able to avoid a lot of the crowds. Took us on the ferry across the canal and through the small town instead of having to back track which was very nice. Gave us choices of which small villages to visit and suggestions of what to do at each one. Never felt rushed but also packed a lot into the day. Highly recommend!
Niels was our guide. He was enthusiastic and engaged in his descriptions. The tour began with a beautiful drive. Neils kept us engaged and involved with his humor. He helped us avoid crowds throughout the tour and picked the most beautiful lakeside setting for the Schnapps tasting.
Instructions to meet tour guide were clear and precise. Tour was interesting but did not include schnapps tasting.
I cannot say enough about our customized day trip. My husband was not wanting to go in the beginning and in the end said he cannot believe how much there is to see outside the city. I would highly recommend this trip!
Our excursion with Tol was fantastic! We loved the variety of places and experiences we were able to pack into the 5-hour tour, and without feeling rushed. There were just the two of us on our tour, and Tol was very flexible and accommodating, giving us some different options to select from along the way. He gave us a lot of information in an engaging, entertaining style. We loved Amsterdam but it was really nice to see some of the countryside, too – and how much better to do it with a small group rather than in a large, impersonal tour bus. This was a great way to experience “Holland in a Nutshell” – highly recommended.
The tour was very good and we enjoyed the windmills and countryside. The guide was knowledgeable and we enjoyed him as well. Only issue was that we booked a small group tour and they rebooked us as a 16 person max tour.
A super day led by EXCELLENT guide Rose! It was great to see so many cute and thriving Dutch villages on a single tour. The vehicle was a tad cramped for our group of eight, but all of the drives were short so not a problem. Rose gave detailed and helpful guidance at every stop, then we had free time to eat, shop and/or explore. The meeting place for starting the tour was well-chosen, and provided a scenic beginning to a very scenic and thoroughly Dutch day.
We took this tour on Wednesday August 15th. Our tour guide, who has previously worked in a saw mill and had great insight, was fabulous and fun the whole time. He was very spontaneous and friendly, and we're so glad he took us to the Edam Market, instead of the cheese factory, as we were more interested in experiencing the culture and the surrounding beauty. I highly recommend this kind of tour and guidance for their flexibility and for a more personable experience!
Our Zaanse Schans windmills tour got off to a pour start when there was not enough room for everyone. We were told that one of the vans was broken. When our group of 3 and another of 2could show proof of booking date, the tour guide disregarded this. A group of 5 claimed to have booked in February but had no proof. The guide would not make any decision and left it to us. In the end, the group of 2 left and would get a full refund. This kind of disorganization was not OK. We then found out that the providers of the tour could not find the keys to one of the vans, so they LIED to us. Also, the windmills was more of a tourist trap, and cheese farm also seemed like an excuse to sell stuff to tourists. There was no real cheese making demonstration...only a description of the tools. They kept trying to sell us stuff. Finally, we thought we would be experiencing a Schnapps tasting in a distillery but instead we were given the Schnapps in paper cups outside on the grass in a small town...not very classy.
