Acatenango Volcano
1 day
About this activity
The Acatenango hike is a little more difficult than some of our other trips. However, to anyone up for a challenge, the views that this volcano offer are amazing to say the least. Specifically, Volcano Fuego, an active volcano located next to the Acatenango, can be seen spitting, and occasionally bursting, with lava. During your hike to Acatenango, you will walk through a beautiful pine forest, which provides some welcome shade. You can also camp for one night at this volcano to have an impressive nighttime view of the Fuego Volcano. This hike begins with a one and a half hour climb to the road of La Torre, from a height of 3.400m to 3.828m. This is the highest non-volcanic point in Central America.
