Pass By: Azhdaak Mountain, Geghard Armenia
We are climbing another mythical location of our Armenian Highlands surrounded by beautiful and peaceful landscape.
We are going to meet Azhdahak: in Armenian mythology, Azhdahak was a man-vishap (man-dragon) who was living there high in the mountains around the lake cuddling the sky with fluffy clouds.The dragon was symbolizing the element of water, fertility and wealth, and later became a frightful symbol of power.
The elevation is moderate, please take hiking boots, sunscreen, sunglasses, hat , at least two liters of water.
Tripsters loves introducing you to the locals.Optionally we can always have local food made by villagers in an authentic village.
Altitude: 3597m
Departure from Yerevan - 6:00.
Drive time to Geghard village – 1 hour.
Jeeping to the foothills - 1 hour.
Ascent to the summit Azhdahak – 3 hours.
Have a rest at the top - 1 hour, in good weather
conditions.
Descending back to the foothills – 1.5 hours.
Driving back to the village - 1 hour.
