It was called the “blue eyes” of Armenia and is surrounded by Geghama, Vardenis, Pambak, Sevan and Areguni mountain chains.

Haghartsin Monastery complex was founded by Bagratunies, in the 10th century. Near the complex, there are chapels which date back to the 5th and 7th century. These buildings are considered to be unique treasures of architecture. In the area of the church are some prayer halls.

Goshavank is medieval monastery complex. It is located in Gosh town (Tavush Region), at the left bank of Getik River. Gosh, who was "the humble man of whisdome" of his time, lived and worked there for 25 years. The monastery had a school and university where were kept numerous manuscript. In the school were taught foreign Armenian, Latin and Greek, Grammar, Philosophy, music, drawing and etc.
