Stop At: Office de Tourisme de Chateauneuf-du-Pape, 3 rue de la Republique, 84230 Chateauneuf-du-Pape France

start your journey in the southern Cotes du Rhone by exploring the beautiful area of CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE, with a guided visit of the castle ruins and a quick historical context's explanation, followed by a presentation of the grapes categories we blend, and the grounds where they grow.

Duration: 3 hours

Stop At: Les Vignerons de Tavel, Route de la Commanderie, 30126 Tavel France

Proclaimed first "rosé de France", king of rosés by the Pope Innocent VI, this fresh and fruity pink is very popular through its quality. We can drink it anytime, as aperitive or with a great variety of spicy meals.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Caveau des vignerons de Lirac, Chemin des Chenes, 30126 Lirac France

Little known out of the area of the Cotes du Rhone, the red is elegant, has complexity and bouquets, deep ruby robe, and the woods and licorice developping aromas during aging, make it an excellent "vin de garde". The white is smooth, fruity and fresh, and can "flavour" as well the aperitive as the dessert.

Duration: 1 hour

Stop At: Office de Tourisme Pays d'Uzes, 14 Place Albert 1er, 30700, Uzes France

The most westernly city in Provence is outside the Cotes du Rhone area, but their noble wines have the same character and are smoother, an unbeatable value ! Enjoy the provencal market on Saturday morning.

Duration: 2 hours

Our wine tour experience was exceptional. We were fortunate to be the only two booked that day, so it was like a private experience. In looking for wine tour options prior to booking, most only included a couple of wineries and then stops at historical points. Being wine enthusiasts, we wanted to visit more places if possible. That is what drew us to this tour option. Our guide was a local grape grower and was very familiar with the area. From the moment he picked us up, it was clear that he was being thoughtful about what we wanted to get out of the experience. We were wearing sandals, so he suggested we skip trudging into the grape fields and, instead, he added a few additional stops at wineries based on proximity and our taste preferences, as well as stops at historical vantage points over the day. He started the day at a winery specializing in making wines just as the Romans did and followed up with one specializing in Rose. Lunch was included and we had assumed that it would be basic, but the choice of location and the quality of the meal FAR exceeded any possible expectation. We had an adorable shabby chic table reserved for two on a lovely shaded patio at a chateau-turned-restaurant called A Table that is surrounded by a vineyard and rolling hills. The meal included wine and three courses, or you could opt for a la carte courses. It was truly outstanding!!! Our tour guide returned to collect us and we maximized our remaining time with visits to four very different wineries, ranging from a small, family run spot to a larger, contemporary location with greater production, as well as stops at historical points of interest with views providing great photo opportunities. Our guide did say that the number of stops depends greatly on the length of time spent at each place and the number of participants, so being just two of us, I think we were able to cover more ground more quickly. Also, the lunch location we so greatly enjoyed is only open M-F, so weekend tour participants are out of luck In that regard. Overall, we were impressed with the thought put into the chosen locations and order, as well as our guide's attentiveness and flexibility. I think this tour provides tremendous value for the money!

Couldn't have been better! Our guide, Gilles was wonderful. He made my husband, who doesn't drink wine, feel like a part of the tour. We visited a number of different wineries from one that dated to Roman times, to the state of the art Chateauneuf de Pape. I loved the visit to the small vineyard and our conversation with its owner. Our lunch in the garden at the Chateau was great and even the weather cooperated as it was a beautiful day. Definitely a treat!

We tasted many great wines, and got a great background of the wines of the area. However, the tour would have been way better without political commentary by the tour guide.
