Private tour of Les Baux de Provence from Avignon
Enjoy Provence's great landscapes with this private walking tour of Les Baux-de-Provence with pick-up from Avignon.
You'll be picked up at your accommodation in Avignon in the morning to reach the windswept Alpilles mountains. Far from the tourist crowds, your expert guide will lead you on an easy walk along the thyme-laden crests, on one of the most spectacular paths in Provence. With aerial views of the famed olive groves and even the Mediterranean Sea to the south, the rocky paths wind through shrub vegetation and pass lone cypress trees: just as Van Gogh painted them during his stay in these mountains.
We'll visit a secret 3000 year-old fort before reaching the medieval village of Les Baux de Provence, set high above the valley. You'll enjoy some free time to meander through the cobbled streets and enjoy a relaxing lunch before completing the walk. After the walk, you'll visit a local olive mill for a tasting and to learn about local olive oil production.
The walk is 7 kilometers long in total, and you can expect up to three hours of walking time along the trails. The paths are easy to walk on, but rocky.
Set just beside the village of Les Baux is a former limestone quarry, converted into a stunning light and picture show: Carrières de Lumières. This activity takes around an hour and is not included in the price. However, you can choose to visit this if you wish at additional cost.
