Get picked up from your hotel or port by a private guide/driver and take off for an exciting tour of one of Spain’s most popular cities. Visit several of Antoni Gaudi´s masterpieces including the Sagrada Familia, Casa Batlló and La Pedrera/ Casa Mila. Explore the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Passeig de Gracia, also know as the most luxurious street in the city.

Continue on to Plaza Catalunya in the heart of Barcelona, then head up Montjuic to see where the 1992 Summer Olympics were held. Visit Plaza Espanya, The National Palace and Olympic Area, Las Ramblas, Paseo Colon, the Columbus Monument, and the Port and the Olympic Village. After spending the morning exploring the city, head off to Montserrat Mountain to see one of the most stunning natural areas near Barcelona.

Also known as ‘The Magic Mountain,’ Montserrat was Spain’s first national park. It is made up of sedimentary rock that appears strikingly pink, and its rock formations are visible from a great distance. Travel by road, railway, or the Aeri de Montserrat cable car to the Santa Maria de Montserrat, a Benedictine abbey and home to the ‘black Madonna’ or Virgin of Montserrat. See the sanctuary, which is thought by some to be the location of the Holy Grail in Arthurian myth. At the end of the day your private guide will drop you off back at your hotel or port.

Peter did an excellent job of providing the 8-Hour Private Tour of Barcelona and Montserrat for our group of six! Because we were there on a Sunday, we expected to tour Barcelona first and then go to Montserrat later, but Peter recommended instead going to Montserrat before Mass. It was definitely the right decision as there were lines of traffic waiting to get in by the time we left Montserrat and were returning to Barcelona. The tour of Barcelona was very comprehensive, and included driving alongside Las Ramblas, walking around La Sagrada Familia as well as several other Gaudi buildings, stopping at Olympic venues and some wonderful scenic overlooks. Added to all of that was Peter's recommendation of a seafood restaurant for lunch along the beach trying two different paella dishes and it was a great start to our two-week tour of the Mediterranean coast. Oh, and before the tour was over, he took us in to a wine shop where he pointed out some very good local wines that we bought. Peter is very knowledgeable about Barcelona, and his personal pride in sharing his passion for the city was evident throughout the entire day. He is a great ambassador, and it was a privilege having his guide services!
