Casa Amatller skip-the-line tickets and video guided visit with a cup of chocolate
Discover the magic of the Amatller House Museum with a comprehensive video guide.
The Amatller House Museum, key work of the architect Puig i Cadafalch, is one of the most exceptional buildings of modernist Catalan architecture in Barcelona and one of the most comprehensive house museums of Catalan Modernism.
Located in the manzana de la discordia (Block of Discord), along with the Casa Batlló by Antoni Gaudí and the Casa Lleo i Morera by Domènech i Montanter, the Amatller House Museum is an authentic hidden treasure in the heart of the city which conserves all of its splendour and the essence of the beginning of the century thanks to the existence of all of its original furniture and decoration, the fruit of extensive and careful restoration.
Designed in the year 1898 by the industrialist chocolatier Amatller Antoni, who had made his fortune by introducing industrial production methods into the family chocolate company 'Amatller Chocolates', today it's the property of the Fundación Instituto Amatller de Arte Hispánico (Amatller Institute of Hispanic Art Foundation) which is a research and dissemination centre of the history of Hispanic art, with the mission of preserving, raising awareness about and conserving this incredible heritage in its original state.
When you arrive, a guide specialized in the history of art will be waiting for you in the ticket booth, which is located in the main entrance of the building, to accompany you through the lobby and the main staircase until you reach the remarkable noble floor, the home of the Amatller family. Once there, the guide will provide each participant with a tactile tablet with headphones which will give you organised information relating to each part of the house, as well as explaining about the Amatller House Museum through the historical context, the Amatller family and the architecture and decoration of Catalan Modernism. Accompanying this information are photographs from the time, plans, videos etc. Also, differing from other visits, the visitor is accompanied by the guide at all times to help and respond to all of the questions that the visitors wish to ask.
The visit ends in the chocolate shop, to offer you a sweet and rich cup of hot chocolate.
Limited to a maximum of 25 people per visit, this exceptional heritage space requires visitors to take some related measures aimed at the conservation and preservation of the house, not allowing access with high-heels and making it necessary for all visitors to wear shoe covers.
