Medieval Mountains 2-day trip from Girona

What are we doing?

Day 1

We depart from Girona towards the little village of Hostalets d'en Bas, where we'll have some filling traditional breakfast before visiting the town. We'll then climb towards the spectacular El Far viewpoint, a cliff up high in the mountains with breathtaking views. We'll follow towards Rupit, one of the nicest medieval villages of the region, and we'll go on a short guided tour to sample the delicious local drink Ratafia. Next, we'll continue to Vic, where you'll have free time to wander around on your own and have lunch. After that, well go to Ripoll, where you can visiit the famous Romanesque Monastery and discover the streets of this Modernist and calm mountain capital. We will stay overnight in this beautiful location.

Day 2

After breakfast we will go to Castellfollit de la Roca, and see the spectacular set of houses that hang from a column of basaltic rock. We will visit its small historic quarter and climb the bell tower to enjoy spectacular views of the region. We'll then continue to the Pont del Llierca, a medieval bridge built on the River Fluvià, with great architectural beauty. It'll be followed by beautiful medieval village of Besalú, where you will have time on your own and lunch. When finished, we will head towards Banyoles, where we will have a walk along the edge of the beautiful Lake while explaining some curiosities and anecdotes about the place and enjoy the marvelous green and blue scenery. We'll be back in Girona city by 6pm.
