Like thousands of pilgrims before, you too will be touched and inspired as you explore the magnificent mountain and its spectacular rock formations. Learn about the legend of the Black Virgin and if available, you can also enjoy a performance by “La Escolania”, which is the oldest children’s choir in Europe. Montserrat is the ‘Serrated Mountain’. The mountain gets its name from the rock formations which look like they’ve been sawed and sculpted, the result of thousands of years of rain and winds. Our experienced drivers will ensure you enjoy the road up the mountain unstressed and will take you all the way to the entrance so you don’t have to walk uphill (admission to Montserrat is included in the price of the tour). Prepare for gorgeous views of Catalonia from the top of the mountain. Among the sites at Montserrat, you will discover the Benedictine Santa Maria de Montserrat abbey and visit the Royal Basilica of Montserrat to see the famous carving of La Moreneta (Black Madonna). You can then choose whether you want to do some walking on your own, shop for local cheese and jam, or just take in the amazing views for a little longer. On some days, you can also enjoy a performance by the oldest children’s choir in Europe – the Escolania. The choir enjoys international prestige, giving concerts all over the world, and we will bring you to the site during the time of the performance so that you may enjoy this charming recital (if available on the day of your visit).
