Day 1 Beijing → Datong

8:00am meet in Beijing to go to the Yungang Grottoes. The 51,000 statues housed in the caves and niches since 5-6th centuries are in good condition, they represent the outstanding achievement of Buddhist cave art and have a far-reaching impact on Buddhist cave art in Asia.

Day 2 Taiyuan

Today we set out to explore the spectacular Yanmen Pass, on behalf of the state military defense system in ancient times, formed rarely in the world.

Day 3 Jincheng

House of the Huangcheng Chancellor, home of Mr. Chen, called Emperor Kangxi’s Dictionary. It covers an area of more than 100,000 square meters. The constructions make the most of the hillside, from the magnificent surrounding walls and stone portals to the beautiful gardens and rooms for concubines.

Day 4 Zhengzhou

After the historical sites, you will love the World Geologic Park Yuntai Mountain, the only 5A Grade scenic area in Henan. Better to reach here earlier as there will be much more than you imagine to visit. It is famous for its imposing mountain, water sceneries and glass bridge.

Day 5 Pingyao

Wang Grand Courtyard, a comprehensive expression of the folk residence in the Qing Dynasty and a typical example of the 5000 years civilization history. It occupies a total area of 250,000m2. Once you have visited Wang courtyard, you would not need to visit another courtyard.

Optional: 'See Pingyao again', the history of legendary draft bank’s operators.

Day 6 Yingxian

Another world cultural heritage Pingyao Ancient City, founded during the Western Zhou Dynasty (1046 – 771 BC) and rebuilt in 1370, China's best preserved old city. What is unique is that the ancient city with its grand city wall and its traditional residences, former security guard companies and even the previous government office are extremely authentic. After lunch, transfer to Yingxian and check into the hotel. Optional: Shadow puppet show & learn Paper cutting.

Day 7 Yingxian→ Beijing

'First Pagoda in the World’ Yingxian Wooden Tower, a gem in the architectural field. It is a perfect combination of science, art and religion. Lunch nearby, then head to Hanging Monastery, an architectural wonder, it is the only temple that has three traditional Chinese religions, Buddhism, Taoism and Confucianism. Back to Beijing.
