About this activity
Meet your driver and guide at your hotel in Beijing. Depart downtown Beijing and take a 30-minute drive to reach the Changping District where the Thirteen Tombs of the Ming Dynasty are located. The Ming Tombs were the burial site for thirteen emperors from the Ming Dynasty (1409-1645). Dingling Tomb, the final resting place of the 13th Emperor Zhu Yijun who is known as the Wanli Emperor, is the only imperial tomb that has been excavated.
Continue the tour by strolling down the Sacred Way leading to the tombs. The Ming emperors believed that their souls would ascend to the afterlife after their coffins were carried through the Sacred Way. Admire 36 large statues carved from stone that guard both sides of the path which stretches 7 km (about 4 miles) long. Each of the intricate statues was carved from a single rock.
Next, take a break to enjoy a delicious and memorable Chinese meal which is included in the cost of your tour. After lunch, relax on the drive to Summer Palace, the largest royal garden in China. Admire the imperial palaces, ancient trees and beautiful scenery surrounding Kunming Lake as you learn more about the royal history of China. If your visit takes place between March to April, you can also enjoy a Dragon boat cruise at the Summer Palace. Finally, at the conclusion of the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Beijing.

This tour was awesome! It is more for those who are interested in the history than just being entertained. Roy was prompt, spoke excellent English, and was knowledgeable with the history at these locations. We felt like we were VIP the entire tour! The food Roy picked out was excellent! Good variety!
