The guide spoke almost no English. A lot of bla bla about the shopping spots and next to zero explanation for the Great Wall. The guide didn't care for his group, almost lost sbd. We spent more time on the road driving to distant shopping outlets that on historic locations, This tour just steels your time and money.
It was a very memorable day. I give my hug to the guide Jack. He was very pleasant. Good English. Very friendly. Less price with great experience.
First off this is the section of the Great Wall you need to see! This tour starts with the Dingling tomb of the Ming Tombs, has a wonderful lunch and then onto the Great Wall. Tour guide Sabrina was outstanding in her depth of knowledge and wonderful personality. Trips to jade and tea shops allowed us another chance to pick up items we hadnt on our first tour. This is another tour that that offers a lot for a very reasonable price.
WE FEARED FOR OUR LIVES! This is no joke! Our driver fell asleep many times at the wheel along with our guide sitting in the next seat have phone picture as proof. And multiple times we yelled at the driver to wake up after he veered into oncoming traffic, just before we would hit other oncoming busses. And the van was questionable in its maintenance dirty, van made noises, brakes, bearings, when stopping. A/C didn't work and actually was blowing hot air. The shopping stop was just another predesignated store they would take you to to get you to buy stuff you can get elsewhere. Nothing special, so don't bother buying at these places. The guide was ok at the best, poor english and hard to understand most of the time. The drive to the Wall was truly terrifying the whole van was glued to the way the driver and guide were falling as we made our way. When we finally made it to the Wall, the guide simply stated to be back at a the drop off spot for lunch in 45 minutes. This was to include the wait in line to take the lift up to the wall 25 minutes, so we had about 15 minutes at the Great Wall in total. We had lunch at a very dingy restaurant and questionable cleanliness atmosphere. Then back in to the van of terror to drive to the Ming Tomb, which was about another 1 1/2 hours drive. The Tomb was nothing to see. nothing there, actually bare. Then back into the van to drive to Tea. Another 1 1/2 hour drive of swerving in and out of traffic, dodging cars and busses.Tea was just another stop to try to sell you the stuff. Don't bother. Then to the hotel, Lucky we were dropped off first. We had contemplated getting a cab but we didn't know just where we were or if the cabs were reputable. Don't take this tour! Pay for a reputable driver to take you to the Wall and you will be able to spend the whole day there and get lunch at the Subway or a at pizza. And the wife says....Bring your own toilet paper!
Best part of the Great Wall! Not that crowded!
The tour guide was rather lackluster, and really didn't provide us with much background information. The minivan was dirty and had garbage on the floor. We wasted time at a jade shop on the way to the tombs and I would have preferred using that time to take the Spirit Way Road to the other tombs. We had a nice lunch but then had to really hoof it up the incline to the cable ride that would take us up to the Great Wall. I felt rushed at the Great Wall because we had yet another stop at a tea shop on the way home.
This was a well organized tour. Lunch was very minimum and small portions. Guide was very good.
Evan was very chatty and engaging . The ming tomb was a bit underwhelming and lacked much in the way of information. The ladies with the dried fruits were delightful as we exited. The Wall was great Our driver was a bit of a racer and came up on several cars and bikes a bit too fast to be safe.
Well organised. Enough time was given to browse on our own. comfortable bus. Friendly and well informed guide
