About this activity
Meet your English speaking guide in your hotel's lobby (for hotels inside the 3rd ring road of Beijing City) and begin your journey under the cover of darkness.
Make your way to Qianmen street which was one of the busiest streets in Beijing during the Ming and Qing dynasties and displays the traditional characteristics of local architecture and merchant culture. Because of its grandeur and unique design, Qianmen Street has long been seen as a symbol of old Beijing. It has also been a commercial center for nearly seven centuries.
After walking around this old street, just cross Zhengyang Gate, you will get to Tian'anmen Square, one of the largest civilian squares in the world. The Tian'anmen Rostrum is the majestic structure that sits at the northern end of the square, facing south. Its stature and positioning represent authority and power.
After admiring the Square, jumping out from "the past", walking to the National Theatre. It is an ellipsoid dome of titanium and glass surrounded by an artificial lake. Best time to see the theatre is when they light up at night!
Continue to the lively Wangfujing Street. The Wangfujing street is the best place to shop for Chinese souvenirs and authentic Chinese products. There are over three hundred famous Chinese brand shops. Wangfujing Street has a selection of exotic food on the Snack Street as well as lots of mouth-watering common foods, such as Chuanr (meat kebabs, commonly made of lamb) and desserts like Tanghulu and candied fruits. This is the best place to sample local street food and snacks as well as souvenir shopping.
After that, if you wish to find a place for a drink and relax, your guide will help you find a taxi to the night bars, or head back to your hotel from there.

The two main street locations on this tour were too touristy and pretty much a waste of time. The square was nice and beautiful at night and my tour guide was ok and all, but he really didn't offer much conversation about the area or history. It basically just felt like he was there to walk around with and that was it. My other tour guides were much much better.
