Full description
Forbidden City was home to 24 Emperors for almost 500 years from Qing Dynasty to Ming Dynasty. The complex is well preserved with 980 buildings over 720,000 m2. Great squares, halls, gates, gardens and courtyards form a 'city within a city'. It is the largest and best preserved wooden structure complex in the world, ranking top of "World's 10 Most Beautiful Royal Palaces". Since 1925, this imperial palace had been turned into a museum exhibiting extensive collections of artifacts and artwork.
You just need to show your passport to enter through the Tiananmen Gate and access a walled complex covering 1,110,000 square metres. The complex holds paintings, calligraphy, and ceramics from the imperial collections. Discover the Forbidden City's yellow buildings, which is the colour of the royal family. The roofs are built with yellow glazed tiles, decorations in the palace are painted yellow, and even the bricks on the ground are yellow.
If the joint ticket is booked, you can also enjoy the Hall of Clocks and Treasure Gallery where all treasures from hundreds of years of history are stored.
