About this activity
Expect pickup from your hotel by 9am. Your private driver and guide will escort you first to Tiananmen Square, the largest city plaza in the world. It was here that Chairman Mao announced the establishment of the new China, and massive parades still take place on China's National Day.
From Tiananmen, it's a short stroll to the Forbidden City, home to generations of Chinese emperors and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Your guide will introduce you to the highlights of this vast complex, before you exit for the short walk to Jingshan Park.
The main attraction here is Jingshan Hill, a 150-foot (45.7-meter) mound that offers stunning views of the Forbidden City, and all the way across Beijing on a clear day. Grab some quick shots here before you hop back into your private vehicle for the 90-minute drive to the Great Wall at Mutianyu.
This stretch of the UNESCO-listed Great Wall is less busy than the Great Wall at Badaling and famous for its breathtaking scenery: it was here that then-First-Lady Michelle Obama visited in 2014. Choose whether to hike up to the wall or ride a cable car (own expense): to descend, you can hike, ride the cable car, or even toboggan (own expense).
You'll have time to capture a few pictures and take a short stroll along the wall before you head back to Beijing, arriving back at your hotel by 5pm.
