Dolphin Rock: 2 Dives
4 h
About this activity
Dolphin Rock: is a few hundred metres off the northeast coast of Bastimentos. It takes about thirty minutes to swim all the way around the protruding rock unless the water is surging. You probably wont actually see dolphins here, but you can get a glimpse of big midnight blue parrot fish, nurse sharks, green moray eels, and schools of jack. There is a nice sandy bottom, perfect for training and fun dives, and there are also interesting swim-throughs and small caverns to explore. This site is an isolated spire of rock a few hundred metres off the Northeastern coast of Isla Bastimentos, close to (but not accessible from) Wizard Beach. Large parrotfish and schools of jack live here, and since the Rock is exposed to the open sea, you'll never know what to expect - although the name is misleading and dolphin sightings here are rare. The undulating rocky bottom hides a few swim-throughs and small caverns. Accessible in relatively calm seas. Conditions: medium surge.
