About this activity
From Bogota we will take our way to the north-east of the city in a private tour to get in the Eastern mountain chain that belongs to the Colombian Andes. Forty minutes away, in the middle of the mountains we will find the town of La Calera. There we will take a typical breakfast and forty minutes later we will be in the entrance of Chingaza National Natural Park, where we will have our first contact with this unique environment in the world, located only in the tropical latitude high mountain.
With an extension of 76600 hectares and its highest point at 4050 m.o.s.l., has more than 100 lagoons at different heights, over 2000 species of flowers and about 383 species of plant that preserve the environmental humidity making this ecosystem a geographic sponge that absorbs water from the air and transforms it in current than later will be important river and underground deposits.
We will walk through the paths stablished for a better interaction with the endemic species and to get to see one of the 289 species of birds or mammals like the spectacled bear, endemic from the South American Andes. The Lagoons of Siecha and Chingaza are part of our ancestor’s (the Muiscas) territory, are part of the sanctuaries where they used to make traditional rituals and celebrations.
Once we are out of the park, we will go back to the town of La Calera to get a typical lunch and rest from the amazing journey.
