Stop At: Lupa Capitolina, Bulevardul Eroilor, Brașov, Romania
The tour begins in front of the Lupa Capitolina statue in Brasov, a symbol of the Latin roots of the Romanian nation. From here we’ll walk through the most beautiful park in the city up to the White Tower.

Stop At: Turnul Alb, Prund-Schei, Brasov Romania
The White Tower is part of the medieval fortification system, a wonderful photo location as it offers spectacular views of both the old town and Mount Tampa in the background. The location offers a perfect opportunity to learn more about the city’s past.

Stop At: Black Tower, Prund-Schei, Brasov Romania
From the White Tower we walk across to the Black Tower, also part of the medieval fortification system. This offers another wonderful photo opportunity with unmatched views of the Black Church, the city’s main attraction.

We climb down from the towers and walk for a short while between the water and the old medieval walls of Brasov and talk about the Saxon ways of fortifying cities and villages in Transylvania. We also use a private entrance to access an area between the two rows of walls which secured this part of the city.

Our first foodie stop is a traditional confectionary shop. They follow old recipes and their chocolate cakes and fresh whipped cream are amazing. Here we taste the Joffre Cake, a local delicacy invented after World War I in honour of the French General Joffre’s visit to Romania.

We then make our way through the narrow cobbled streets of the Old Town, even passing through one of the narrowest streets in Europe, built to help firefighters in times of need. This is a fascinating detail of medieval town planning and architecture and an Instagram gem.

We continue walking the medieval streets looking for the best views and stop to admire the imposing ancient city gates and discover the etiquette of entering the city under Saxon rule. We then take a picturesque walk towards Tampa Mountain and stop at our favourite spot for a truly spectacular panorama of the entire city.

Our second foodies stop is for either an artisan hot chocolate (in winter) or an ice cream (in summer), all proudly made in Brasov by a young pastry chef with serious culinary credentials, having studied and worked in Michelin starred kitchens.

Next up, we take a detour to a hidden gem that local people are extremely proud of – the Marzipan Museum. The head chef is a talented artist who meticulously builds intricate and delicious figures, landscapes and objects entirely out of marzipan.
Our last foodie stop is an institution on the food scene in Brasov offering some of the highest quality food in the city. This is also our tour’s piece de resistance, a cake-tasting extravaganza sampling three types of gourmet cakes, paired with a glass of prosecco.
