Stop At: Peles Castle, Str. Pelesului 2, Sinaia 106100 Romania
Peles Castle is located in Sinaia City. The town was named after Sinaia Monastery of 1695, around which it was built. King Carol I of Romania built his summer home, Peleș Castle, near the town in the late nineteenth century. Peles Castle was the first European castle entirely lit by electrical current.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Brasov Historical Center, Piazza Sfatului, Brasov Romania
Brasov is home to one of the narrowest streets in Europe. The Rope Street (Strada Sforii) is approximately four feet wide and, was initially used as an access route by firefighters. Stroll around the old Town Hall Square (Piata Sfatului) where you can admire colorfully painted and ornately trimmed baroque structures.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Black Church (Biserica Neagra), Curte Honterus Johannes nr. 2, Brasov 500025 Romania
Take a peek inside the Black Church (Biserica Neagra), the largest Gothic church in Romania. Though its name, Biserica Neagră (the Black Church) may seem dark and foreboding, the building is nothing to fear. Step inside, and you’ll find a magnificent trove of cultural treasures nested within the enormous space. The Black Church is not only an interesting historical edifice, but also a great place to visit for the legend of a boy who died tragically or for the bullets that can be seen in the walls of the church.
Duration: 30 minutes
Meals included:
• Breakfast
Accommodation included: Overnight in Brasov City - 3 stars hotel
Day 2: Libearty Bear Sanctuary- Rasnov Fortess - Dracula's Castle
Stop At: Libearty Bear Sanctuary Zarnesti, DN 73A km 6 - near the entrance in Zarnesti from Rasnov, Zarnesti 500075 Romania
More than 69 hectares of luxuriant forest with rivers and ponds are now the home of almost 90 brown bears. From 2008 this wild place is occasionally visited but under some strict rules meant to reintegrate the bears in their natural habitat and not to disturb them. Most of the bears in the Sanctuary were rescued from the most miserable and small cages where they were used as a form of entertainment for tourist attractions.
Duration: 1 hour
Stop At: Rasnov Citadel, Unirii Square no. 12, Rasnov 505400 Romania
Rasnov Fortress differs from a castle like Peles, where the structure and grounds were reserved for members of the Royal party and their court. Instead, the fortress was its own small community and served as a place of refuge and safety during times of attack. The defensive system included nine towers, two bastions and a drawbridge.Strategically located on the commercial route linking the provinces of Transylvania and Walachia, Rasnov differs from other Saxon fortresses in that it was designed as a place of refuge over extended periods of time. As such, it had at least 30 houses, a school, a chapel and other buildings more commonly associated with a village.
Duration: 2 hours
Stop At: Bran Castle (Dracula's Castle), Str. General Traian Mosoiu nr. 24, Bran 507025 Romania
Bran Castle owes its fame to its imposing towers and turrets as well as to the myth created around Bram Stocker's Dracula. Surrounded by towers and ramparts, this “pugnacious little fortress”, as Queen Marie called it, is a truly stunning castle, especially against the beautiful background dominated by the Carpathian Mountains. Narrow winding stairways lead through some 60 timber rooms, many connected by underground passages, which house collections of furniture, weapons and armor dating from the 14th to the 19th centuries.
