AMAZING HISTORY AND FANTASTIC VIEWS! My husband and I were escorted by our guide Razvan on this all-day trip on the Road in the Sky! The weather was perfect and Razvan was an exceptional historian! He providing us with interesting insights into stories of Count Dracula Vlad the Impaler at the Poentari Citadel. The hike to the top was a challenge, but certainly worth the effort! The Monastery at Curtea de Arges was absolutely beautiful and we enjoyed the stories about the architect and architecture! Our ride across the Vidraru Dam and along Balea Lake was gorgeous. As we approached the tunnel to the Fargaras mountain crest, the traffic was backed up for at least a mile! Not to be deterred, Razvan offered to walk us thru the tunnel to the village on the other side! We lucked into a parking spot and started our hike, enjoying the scenic views of the road we just followed from the valley with its many twists and turns. Walking was truly a great way to stretch our legs, take in the fabulous sights and breathe the crisp mountain air. In the village, we strolled around the green-colored lake, then relaxed over a lunch of mici sandwiches and enjoyed people watching! Razvan was a wealth of historical knowledge and provided entertaining stories the entire day. Though we were gone all day, the time just flew by! We had a wonderful experience!
Brilliant day out, our guide was brilliant, knowledgable and a very good driver. Gave us plenty of time to take pictures. To see this famous road is a sight to behold
