About this activity
Departure in the morning and visit of the Village Museum, a landmark of the romanian nature that represents a large collection of original peasant houses brought from various regions. What is interesting is that every house was disassembled and then reassembled here in the museum. The initiator of such a pitoresque idea was Dimitrie Gusti, an ethnologist, who with the help of some students implemented his project in 1936. You will spend about 30 min - 45 minutes in the Village Museum.
The tour continues by taking the main artery of the city, Calea Victoriei and the group arrives in the Revolution Square where can be seen the balcony of Central Commitee from which Ceausescu used to have speeches in front of the population. You will hear the story of the helicopter that took away Nicolae and Elena from the roof of the building in order to run away from the angry crowd. Photo stop.
You will keep going on Calea Victoriei, one of the most interesting and cultural areas of the city, where one can observe a mix of architectural elements, luxury stores and hotels for tourists: History Museum, CEC Bank and Zlatari Church.
You will stop in front of the Palace of the Parliament or House of the People, as it was named in the communist period where you will enjoy a beautiful panorama with the second largest building in the world. Probably most of the people already heard about Nicolae Ceausescu, but now one can find more secrets about the communist era and how the giant structure was erected.
Romanian Patriarchal Cathedral is the place where Orthodox Masses (Liturghia) take place every day and being also the house of the Patriarch. Here one can be impressed by the architecture and the interior design of the Church erected in the mid part of 17th century, when all the area was covered with grapevines. This is also a good spot for panoramic pictures and a quiet place to put together your powers before entering in the city murmurs.
The guide drops you off at Hotel or any other places desired (restaurant, city centre, etc.)
