Stop At: Peasant Fortified Church at Prejmer, East side of the Brasov Depression, Prejmer 507165 Romania

Included in the UNESCO World Heritage Patrimony, the fortified church of Prejmer dates from the 13th century. It was enlarged and strengthened in the following centuries with 12 meters high enclosing walls, tall towers with loopholes and machicolations and almost 300 rooms to shelter the villagers in time of sieges.

Its church preserves one of the most valuable and oldest Gothic altars in Romania.

One of the best-preserved monuments built by the Saxons of Transylvania, the fortified church of Harman dates from the 13th century.

With a complex fortification system, proof of its strategic location, this historical site has its share of heroic stories and horrifying sieges. Of particular importance are the pre-Reformation frescoes from the Chapel Tower, a rarity in the region.

Stop At: Brasov Historical Center, Piazza Sfatului, Brasov Romania

Dating from the 12th century, Brasov was one of the most powerful commercial cities in Transylvania in the medieval centuries. Still, its was often invaded by enemy armies which led to its fortification. Part of the enclosure walls, towers and bastions are still standing today, and are included in your afternoon walk in Brasov. 

The city also preserves unique historical monuments like the Black Church, over 600 years old, one of the most impressive in Romania and one of the largest Gothic constructions from this part of Europe. The Council Square, the 14th century Orthodox Church Saint Nicolae, the Catholic Church and the small streets of the Old Town are also part of the tour.
