Danube River Cruise with Buffet Lunch
One of the largest cities in Europe, Budapest is the union of the two towns on either side of the Danube River, Buda and Pest. Its history dates back to 106 AD, when the Romans first settled in the region. Remnants of this ancient city and its influence can still be seen in the numerous Romanesque monuments scattered throughout the city. One of the iconic landmarks is the Hungarian Parliament Building. Considered to be one of the most beautiful Parliament buildings in the world, it consists of two identical halls, one for official purposes, and another for visitors. It is one of the tallest building in Budapest, a distinction it shares with St. Stephen’s Basilica, a Neoclassical church. The two towers of the Basilica house 6 bells that are rung twice every year. The Buda Castle complex, along with the Matthias Church is also another popular attraction in the city.
Your ExperienceYou will meet your co-passengers at the meeting point in the heart of the city. The cruise will begin at 2 PM. The boat will depart from a point close to the famous Chain Bridge, which is believed to be the first ever bridge in the city. You will see the iconic Hungarian Parliament and its incredible Neo-Gothic architecture. The St. Stephen's Basilica and the Great Market Hall can be seen across the river. All the while, you can enjoy lunch straight from the kitchen of Peter Molnarka, a renowned chef in Budapest. The ship will turn around at Margaret Island. You can catch a sight of the hilly Buda region, and see the majestic Buda Castle with its green dome as well as the towering Matthias Church in the distance. The central tower is a prime example of Gothic architecture. The Buda Castle complex nestled in the hills is a wonderful confluence of nature and manmade structures. Your cruise ship will pass under six bridges during the cruise, and at the end of the 90-minute tour, you would have experienced a majority of Budapest’s best sights.
