9 de Julio Avenue is one of the main arteries of the City of Buenos Aires, capital of the Argentine Republic. It runs about one kilometer inside the city center of the city in a north-south direction, parallel to the coast of the Río de la Plata.
It is known because it is the Obelisk (at the junction with Corrientes Avenue), and for being one of the widest avenues in the world.
It takes its name in honor of the day of the declaration of independence of the country, made on July 9, 1816. Its width is 140 meters.

From its first performance in May 25, 1908, in which the opera Aida, by Giuseppe Verdi, was presented, the most important directors, singers and dancers in history performed, such as Igor Stravinsky, Herbert von Karajan, Daniel Barenboim, Maria Callas, Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo, Rudolf Nureyev, Julio Bocca and Maximiliano Guerra.
