About this activity
After your cruise ship docks in Buenos Aires, relax on a shore excursion with an informative coach tour. As you listen to commentary from your knowledgeable guide, enjoy the drive through the most interesting neighborhoods.
Stop at Plaza de Mayo, the political center of the city, to admire Casa Rosada, where the Argentine president holds office. Photograph the pink exterior of the impressive building before you see more sights in the square, including the Cabildo (town hall) and the Metropolitan Cathedral.
Next, head to Teatro Colón, a stunning opera house built between 1889 and 1908. The theater stands near Plaza de la República, a square on Avenida 9 de Julio where you can see the Obelisco de Buenos Aires (Obelisk of Buenos Aires), a 1936 monument to honor the foundation of the city.
Then drive through the waterfront district of Puerto Madero on your way to the neighborhood of San Telmo, one of the city's oldest neighborhoods, known for its well-preserved colonial architecture. See its many attractions, including Dorrego Square, where you should keep your eyes open for spontaneous tango performances -- San Telmo is the center of tango in Buenos Aires. If your tour occurs on a Sunday, you'll visit San Telmo's weekly antiques market.
Continue to La Boca, Buenos Aires' most colorful neighborhood, where a European atmosphere has remained strong since the neighborhood was settled by Italian immigrants. The district is a major attraction for the brightly painted buildings on the Caminito, the neighborhood's main (pedestrianized) drag where you'll hop off the coach to go for a stroll and see local artists selling their work.
Back on your coach, head to one of the city's largest districts, Palermo, where you'll drive through Palermo Woods. The city's largest park, Palermo Woods is home to many attractions, including the Buenos Aires Zoo, Plaza Italia and Galileo Galilei Planetarium.
Finally, arrive in Recoleta, one of the most exclusive neighborhoods in the city, with its renowned Recoleta Cemetery (where Eva Peron is interred), elegant shops and open-air cafes. After the tour, you'll make your own way back to the Buenos Aires cruise port.
This excursion concludes within a 15-minute taxi ride to the cruise port, so you determine the time you return to your ship in Buenos Aires. Please allow yourself ample time to enjoy the excursion and ensure your timely return to the port. This excursion is not covered by our worry-free policy.

Tour was interesting and guide was informative.
Fantastic tour taking in the major sights in BA. Loved the pictures you made of us in the tango and soccer stadium. Only bought the tango one but wish I had both! The tour guide was great! Should have a bigger sign at the pick up that says Viatour! We could not confirm due to no internet but it all worked out. Got the email message the day before about the time change
We enjoyed this tour but was very disappointed that we did not actually visit La Recoleta Cemetary. On the itinerary it says you can finish there, or in a shopping centre, or restaurant area at the new docks....but when I queried this the guide says it wasn't in the itinerary and we could either finish at the shops or restaurant area. La Recoleta was one of the places we really wanted to visit, and that's what we expected on this tour. As we were sailing on our cruise later that afternoon, we didn't have time to go ourselves to see it!
The ship was late 2 1/2 hrs in letting us off and we missed the tour. Had to hire a taxi to take us around
The pick up was 45 minutes late dispite three telephone calls. The trip was ok around the city.
