Buenos Aires: The Works (all inclusive one day tour)
1 day
Full Day
About this activity
This is an utterly comprehensive and trouble-free quality experience: learn why the world calls Buenos Aires the 'Paris of the South'. Take an entertaining day stroll with a guide who is knowledgeable about its history, culture and architecture, and discover what makes Buenos Aires so special. All is included.
Learn about the early days of Spanish colonization. Stroll Florida Street, view the French splendor of the Paz Palace and hear about how Argentina was born at San Martin's Monument. Take in the architecture of Buenos Aires while passing the Kavanagh, Mihanovich and Strugamou buildings. Visit the bombed Israel embassy, gorgeous churches including Nuestra Señora del Pilar and an astonishing private basilica called the Holy Sacrament. Check out the British Clock Tower while learning about the Falklands War. See Arroyo Street with its art galleries and Alvear Street palatial mansions. Visit Recoleta and Barrio Norte with the knowledge that most Buenos Aires walking tours don't go this deep into little-known facts. Your guide will leave no stone unturned as you're introduced to places most visitors never experience.
Stop for an unforgettable lunch (included!) at famous La Biela cafe before we visit Recoleta Cemetery and hear fascinating tales about Evita Peron, the misfortune of Rufina Cambaceres, Tiburcia Dominquez's miserly husband, and Admiral Brown (our Irish hero). Stop to admire Pilar Basilica and learn about the Recoleta Cultural Center and Old Monastery. View Bourdelle's Monument to Alvear, then continue to the Palais de Glace, where Tango came of age and learn about Tango piquant history from your guide before visiting the BA Design Center and Terraces, the National Library, and the National Fine Arts Museum, the beautiful giant metallic flower and much more.
We'll drive to the historic downtown and Plaza de Mayo to see presidential Casa Rosada, the Cabildo (Town Hall), Pope Francis' Cathedral, Avenida de Mayo and Puerto Madero. Trek on toward San Telmo, the oldest neighborhood in Buenos Aires and home to many colonial-style houses and churches, then drive to Buenos Aires' most charming neighborhood, La Boca famous for its colorful tin houses and its football (soccer) champion team.
We will then take you back to your hotel so you can get changed and have a short break before we pick you again up to top-it-all with the most amazing and pleasurable Tango Dinner experience: an exquisite local dinner-show with drinks (wine, beer, juices, pop, etc.) ALL INCLUDED complete with Tango lessons! Lessons are not compulsory and you won't be obliged to participate; you can simply relax and enjoy the atmosphere while watching and learning the moves to this beautiful dance. Just enjoy and let us show you why Tango and Buenos Aires are so inextricably interconnected!
Let us give you the most comprehensive, high quality, trouble-free, all inclusive tour of true, real Buenos Aires ever!
