This is the only artery linking the Casa Rosada (Government House) with the Palacio del Congreso (Congress House), and the main character in many important events in the country’s national history. The avenue is also surrounded by emblematic buildings: the Casa de la Cultura (Culture House) – former La Prensa newspaper-, the Cabildo, the Café Tortoni, the Castelar Hotel, the Teatro Avenida and Palacio Barolo.

San Telmo, one of the city's oldest neighborhoods, known for its well-preserved colonial architecture. See its many attractions, including Dorrego Square, where you should keep your eyes open for spontaneous tango performances -- San Telmo is the center of tango in Buenos Aires.
