And then, enjoying free time at leisure Move to visit the Citadel of Saladin, which was fortified by the Ayyubid ruler Salah al-Din (Saladin) between 1176 and 1183 ad. The Citadel is sometimes referred to as Mohamed Ali Citadel, because it contains Muhammad Ali alabaster mosque, the largest mosque built in the first half of the 19th century (1830 and 1848 ad). Continuing to visit old Cairo (Coptic Cairo), which encompasses many old churches and ruins of the fort Babylon around which many of the Egyptian Christians oldest churches were built. You will see the Hanging Church and other Coptic churches, the Ben Ezra Synagogue and the Mosque of Amr ibn al-As, the first mosque ever built in Egypt, 641–642 AD.
