The guide took us only to 3 of the many listed sites in the morning. She spent too much time at each of them. We were looking forward to seeing the Khan El-Khalily Bazaar in the afternoon, but she said they were closed (or "perhaps a few opened stalls") due to a religious holiday. Instead she took us to a "bazaar" store where she would get a commission on anything we bought. We inquired at our hotel that evening, and were told that she was not telling us the truth about a holiday and the closure. The Egyptian Museum was excellent.
to start the tour, he spent way too much time with several pieces in the museum. the statue of Ramses II , we were there for over 12 minutes. we missed many parts of the museum because he didn't manage his time correctly. I told him to do a quick pass of the oldest mosque in Africa, Al-Azhar he gave us zero info, but went on to preach the teachings of Muhammad, which I had to put a stop to 15 minutes in. then he rushed us through the Bazar which we expressed we wanted to spend the most amount of time. Avoid this tour like the plague.
Awesome - Mahmoud was an excellent guide - one of the best we had in Egypt. All guides and cars are subcontracted on as as-needed basis, so booking this could be a variable experience. It seems the guides are not even aware of what has been booked, and so you can be flexible when you meet. Forget needing the printout for barcode scanning - tourguide technology is not there yet in Egypt! We had 2 cars during the day - for the first a/c did not work so if that is a deal breaker it would be in high summer call the local contact the day before.
