About this activity
The day begins at 5am, when your private guide collects you from your hotel in Cairo or Giza for the air-conditioned journey to the Sahara Desert. (You might want to ask your hotel to prepare a breakfast box.)
Begin with a quad bike safari. After a short safety briefing and an explanation of the simple controls, don your helmet and goggles and follow your guide across the gently sloping sands in the pre-dawn light. As the sun begins to illuminate the pyramids, you'll stop at the best viewpoints to capture stunning sunrise shots.
After your 1-hour ride is finished, it's time for a more traditional mode of transport – an Arabian camel, known as the ship of the desert. Sat up high, you'll sway through the desert for an hour, discovering the unique motion of this classic Middle Eastern steed, the serene charms of the Sahara, and a wealth of photo opportunities.
You'll return to your hotel in air-conditioned comfort around 9am.

Lot's of fun! It was worth getting up early to ride a camel out into the desert in the early dark of the morning. There is something truly amazing when you ride one of these wonderful creatures up to the top of a hill, overlooking the great Pyramids and all of Cairo. It was a peaceful awe-inspiring experience. Watching the sun rise over one of the wonders of the world is an experience not to be missed. And this was only the beginning. After returning to the meeting point back in the city, I jumped on an ATV, rode it through the busy streets of Cairo in the morning so much fun! and out into the desert to let loose and fly up dunes, ride up the side of them like I was a star in an action movie and feel the rush of adrenaline kicking up dust in the western Sahara, all while having an amazing view of the Pyramids and the city of Cairo. A wonderful experience with great tour guides.
Erakey was a wonderful guide. He was on time and patient. He made sure we were in good hands.
Not what we expected but the experience of riding a camel and ATV was fun. Again, the Viator rep assigned to pick us up at our hotel was prompt and very enthusiastic even though this excursion started at 4am. We were a bit disappointed because we wanted to see the great Pyramids at a viewing distance when the sun came up but the morning mist clouded any viewing from our vantage point. The ATV excursion was just OK. The ATV's were a bit old and dilapidated so safety was a bit of a concern but we ended up having fun anyways.
It's incredible..! I recommend Mohamed H, the tour guide He was a good person and so very helpful.
