If you travel to Cairo,then the Egyptian Antiquities Museum in Cairo is definitely a must to be visit. In a country like this, with a past full of history, culture and tradition, the reasons are quite obvious. All Egypt is there in a place made for you. Commonly known as the Egyptian Museum holds the greatest collection of objects of the Pharaonic era of ancient Egypt. The museum has more than 120,000 objects, classified into different eras of Egyptian history. In total, over 2 ½ million people visit the museum annually.

Your best kept treasure is the mask of Tutankhamun. But also, you can visit the more than three objects discovered in 1500 by the English Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon in the pharaoh’s tomb in the Valley of the Kings. Among the pieces of his tomb, there is everything. From the sarcophagus to the riches that Pharaoh would need to go to the afterlife.

The museum is located in the center of Cairo, in Liberyty Square known as (Tahrir Square) which got very famous reputation specially after The Egyptian revolution 2011 . It was designed by French architect Marcel Dourgnon in 1900. The building, a neoclassical style, is organized on two floors. On the ground floor there is a large collection of papyrus and coins used in the ancient world. In addition, there are statues, paintings and sarcophagi, found in the tombs of many pharaohs in the Valley of the Kings.

Upstairs is where lies the treasure of Tutankhamun. But there’s more. As a large number of objects remain in the warehouse, since not yet been documented. From about 600 graves, so it will be difficult to study.

Note that, inside the museum is not allowed to take pictures. Camera to be collected at store room on the outer garden of the Museum
