Stop At: Wadi Natrun, Cairo Egypt

For the following daytrip I will meet you at your accommodation in Cairo/Giza where we start our tour. From here we start to Wadi al Natron Monastery which is considered the heart of Christian monasticism in Egypt. Here we explore the religious traditions at Deir alBaramus, Deir Anba Bishop and Deir al Suryani where Coptic monks still live and work. This drive is about one and half an hour from Cairo. We start with Deir al-Baramus where you will meet some Coptic priests who will explain the site to you. After getting all informations here we change to the monastery of Deir Anba Bischof where the bishop of same name is buried here. We do have a walk around this site and here you can study live and rituals of this early kind of Egyptian Christianity.Now we come to the monastery of Deir al-Suryani which is the smallest and compact one.After stuffed with all these informations about these Coptic monasteries we will having lunch at an interesting local place. We eat and relax and talk about what we have heard and saw in this religious area. It was a long and interesting day and after 7 to 8 hours ofsightseeing .
