About this activity
This is the ultimate combination of nature, culture and adventure! This tour visits the archaeological site of Tulum, the beaches of Akumal or Tulum and the Mayan ecological reserve.
We’ll begin our tour snorkeling with sea turtles in Akumal or Tulum (depending on the season) but the experience is comparable.
Akumal (Mayan for “Place Of The Turtles”) is a sea turtle sanctuary. Here you will find Green turtles as well as Loggerhead turtles, both species endangered and protected.
Watch up close as these gentle creatures swim in the blue water in company of colorful tropical fish that live in this second longest coral reef barrier in the world.
Next will be the Mayan ecological reserve that was part of an ancient Mayan city. Here you can swing in a hammock and relax for a while in the middle of the jungle to enjoy the scenery or you can partake in some exciting and extreme activities!
The zip lines are first, there are two of them, a short one of approximately 360 feet and another one of around 900 feet. The zip lines run across the top of a huge open cenote. Adrenaline rush guaranteed! (And of course we’ll provide you with professional gear for these activities).
After the long zip line, we’ll ride the canoes in the open cenote. The canoes are big enough to take 3 persons and life vests are provided. This is an activity for everyone and even babies can ride with their parents.
You can also experience the refreshing water of the cenotes in the park, you can either swim in them or you can jump from the top of the platforms if you’re the adventurous kind.
Finally we’ll visit a Mayan village where we’ll have exquisite food cooked by the villagers themselves, one of our favorite parts of the tour!
We’ll end our tour with a visit to the archaeological site of Tulum, considered one of the most beautiful Mayan cities in the Yucatan Peninsula.
Facing the turquoise blue ocean, this small but picturesque city is believed to have been the most important trading port of the post-classical period of time in Mesoamerica and one of the last important cities that was still inhabited by Mayans when the Spaniards arrived.
Your guide will give you all the important history and details about this city, the most visited archaeological site in Mexico and the people that inhabited it not long ago.
As said before, a perfect combination of nature, culture and adventure. Come join us and have an awesome day out!
