2-Day Panda Base & Leshan Giant Buddha & Jiayang Train & Ancient Town

Day 1 Panda Base & Giant Buddha

After breakfast, meet your professional guide in the hotel lobby and your private car, clean and air conditioned, will pick you up and head to Panda Base (40 mins drive). Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding and Research Center is the largest and most influential Panda Theme Park in the world. Led by your informative guide, enjoy full knowledge of the endangered species and knowing the effort done by the center so far. Walk to different enclosures to visit pandas in different ages including adults, teenagers and babies. More over you are able to see black swans, peacocks and red pandas as well. Then you will go to a small theater to watch a panda movie in English language to deeper understand them. After that you can explore the panda scientific museum before leaving. (3.5 hrs in panda park)Guide can give you suggestion on the lunch (excluded).

In the afternoon you will head to Leshan Giant Buddha (2.5 hrs drive / 1 stop in the middle). The Giant Buddha was started in 713 AD and finished in 803 AD during Tang Dynasty, and is listed by UNESCO as World Heritage Site in 1996. The height is 71 meters (233 feet) and it is the tallest stone Buddha statue in the world. Upon arrival, guide will lead you enter the park and climb up through 300 stairs to the top where you can get a close picture of the Buddha’s face. You can even imitate touching the Buddha’s ear and nose in a distant view to have a funny picture. Then descend via cliff side zigzag stairway down to the foot of the Buddha and find how big the toe nail is. Wuyou Temple on the other side of the mountain is also available for a visit.(3 hrs in Buddha park) Check in at a 4 star international hotel in Leshan (included).

 

Day2 China's Last Steam Train & Ancient Town

Early in the morning guide will pick you up around 8:30am and set out for Jianwei County where locomotive is. (1 hr drive) Upon arrival you will check in at the railway station with your guide. The narrow-gauge train retains the most primitive way of operation of the steam era: coal is manually charged by fireman; engine is manually piloted and directed by hand-waved signal flag and mouth-blown whistle; track is switched manually; carriages are coupled up and braked manually, and communication is passed by hand-swung phone, etc., all of which constitute inseparable components of the industrial heritage. Train departs at 10:30am and single way is 1hr. Along the way you will be amazed by the beautiful terrace fields and the blooming rape flowers.(2hrs round trip in the train) Guide can give you suggestion on the lunch (excluded).

On the way back to Chengdu, we stop at Huanglongxi Ancient Town. (2 hrs drive) Huanglongxi Ancient Town has 2000 years history and is diversified by colorful ancient architectures and interesting local markets. Wander around and return to Chengdu. (1 hr in acient town)Excursion finished.
