Private Tour: Pingle Ancient Town and Jin Hua Mountain with Lunch Day Trip from Chengdu

Meet your private guide in the lobby of your hotel at 08:00 and transfer by air-conditioned car to Pingle Ancient Town, 65 kms to the southwest of Chengdu.

The history of Pingle Ancient Town dates back over 2,000 years and at one time it was an important trading centre with a bustling riverside wharf on the Baimo River, situated on the ancient Silk Road. Many of the buildings along the waterfront date back to the Ming and Qing Dynasties and consist of two floors, with a warehouse on the ground floor and living accommodation above. Enjoy a walk around the many ancient streets to see all the houses with their blue tiled rooftops and visit buildings such as the Li Family Courtyard.

Walk on the seven arched ancient Leshan Bridge, 120 metres in length and dating to the Qing Dynasty. Further down-stream you will see the Golden Dam, so called because legend has it that the first Xia Dynasty emperor put a lot of gold into the river to stop the annual flooding. In the old town you will find Banyan Trees mostly planted over 1,000 years ago. There are also some temples and monasteries in the town including the Guanyin Bodhisattva Monastery dating to the Tang Dynasty and several bronze statues of Buddha.

Outside the town, in Jinhua Mountain Scenic Area, also known as Golden Flower Mountain, visit the peaceful monastery where you will find the Moya Giant Buddha as well as many other fine statues. The monastery worships a mixture of Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism and is set amongst large areas of bamboo. 

At some point during your visit you will enjoy lunch in a local Chinese restaurant. At the end of the day return to your Chengdu hotel where your tour will finish.
