BMW Motorcycle Self-Guided Tour: 1 Day Doi Inthanon in Northern Thailand

DAY DESCRIPTION

Chiang Mai - Doi Inthanon - Chiang Mai (200 km/125 miles)

We meet at our service center 7.30 AM. Here you will receive a briefing about the tour and your motorcycle. After you are familiar with your motorcycle you leave Chiang Mai behind and ride towards the south for an hour on the Highway before you turn right in direction of the Doi Inthanon National Park. You should not miss the Vachiratarn Waterfall, which can be accessed from the road. It is one of Northern Thailand’s most impressive waterfalls, at approximately 80 meters high. Then you climb through beautiful pine forests for more than 2,000 meters on windy roads to the peak of Doi Inthanon, which at 2,565 meters above sea level is the highest point in Thailand.

You can visit the impressive Twin Pagodas built by the Thai Air Force in honor of their Majesties King and Queen in commemoration of their 60th birthdays. If you like you can stop on the way down at a Hmong Tribal Market where the villagers trade various kinds of vegetation, fruits, and flowers grew on their own farm. Return to Chiang Mai in the afternoon using the smaller canal road through lush farm land. (Distance: 200 km / 125 miles)
