About this activity
Meet your guide at 1pm at the Wrigley Building Plaza, pick up a beverage from Peet’s Coffee & Tea, and listen as they introduce you to Chicago: a city that, in the space of only 200-odd years, grew from a swampy backwater into one of the world’s alpha cities. As part of the tour, you’ll be provided with a keepsake view book full of archival photos that will help bring Chicago’s rich history to life.

As you walk through the city on this 2.5-hour tour, your guide will share all kinds of fascinating Windy City tales, and will point out a number of famous landmarks. After a stroll across the city’s famous Michigan Avenue Bridge (recently renamed the DuSable Bridge), you’ll have the chance to meander down the Riverwalk, the city’s newly completed pedestrian walkway that hugs the Chicago River.

Admire the riverside sights, and learn about everything from Chicago’s early settlers to the Fort Dearborn Massacre of 1848, from the Great Chicago Fire to the 1893 World’s Fair. Your guide will also host trivia games — with prizes — to keep you entertained as you meander.

Finally, after an exciting walk along the river, hop into a water taxi and speed back towards your starting location at the Wrigley Building Plaza. All visitors are supplied with headsets to best hear the guide, and a restroom and refreshment intermission is also included in the tour itinerary.

Great way to learn and understand Chicago history with Ric, who kept us amused. Three hours well spent.

Rick was a great guy - classic, crusty Chicagoan - he was very knowledeable, friendly and entertaining. He kept everyone engaged.
