We toured both in the day and evening. The guide on the day tour was great! She was knowledgeable and pointed out buildings and architecture, told stories about Chicago history, and made us laugh! She told us the best time for the evening tours. The evening tour guide was disappointing. We went past some of the same buildings. He pointed out places like Target and McDonalds, and he didn't talk about any of the city's history or architecture. The quality of the tour depends on the guide! Also, while bus stops were easy to find this was a problem in other cities, ticket sellers never offered the freebies mentioned online.
We were in town for a couple days and chose this tour to get the lay of the land. It was great. Saw so much of the city and really enjoyed all of our guides. We chose the two day and got the night tour included. Beautiful city at night! Just make sure you find out the night stops....different than day stops.
I purchased a two day pass, and took both the red and green routes. I found the guides to be informative and friendly as well as helpful. It was nice to see the city in a way that I hadn't before. My only regret was that I didn't take the side excursions, I would have loved to see Chinatown!
