Transylvanian Brunch and Sibiu

This journey has the perfect combination: a unique Transylvanian cultural gastronomic event and probably Transylvania’s most famous city, Sibiu.

We will depart from Cluj in the morning and have a unique experience in the Southern part of Transylvania, where the small community of Hosman, has prepared its finest recipes, cooked only with local ingredients in the lovely Transylvanian Brunch. In the afternoon, sit back and discover the superb city of Sibiu, Europe’s Capital of Culture in 2007, an unspoiled gem with over 800 years of history and culture. 

Almost 900 years ago, when the first German colonists arrived in Transylvania, Sibiu was chosen to be the capital city of the newly founded province. During the next couple of centuries it became one of the most important cities in South-Eastern Europe, having a strict administration, a fearsome army and hard-working citizens. It was the only city in the region that was never occupied by any invaders and in the 18th century, it became a flourishing cultural center. After World War Two, many of its inhabitants emigrated and in the past 25 years, it has been rediscovering its history and culture. In 2007, it was the first Romanian city to be named European Capital of Culture and has been attracting millions of tourists each year ever since.

This Saturday join us for a unique gastronomic and cultural event, designed to promote both the mouthwatering, gastronomic delights form Southern Transylvania, as well as to sustain the people who fight each day to keep the small traditional farms alive. Join us in the lovely little village of Hosman for this year’s first Transylvanian Brunch.

In the afternoon, we will depart for Sibiu and visit one of Europe’s best kept secrets…

In the evening we will return to Cluj.
