Day 1: Negombo - Trincomalee
Stop At: Koneswaram Temple, Trincomalee Sri Lanka
Koneswaram Temple, dedicated to Shiva, sits on a rocky cape. Although destroyed and rebuilt throughout its history, this 17th-century structure still stands as an example of classic Dravidian architecture. Numerous hymns and pieces of literature mention the temple for both its traditions and its large quantities of gold, pearls, jewels, and silk. Today, you can observe artifacts saved from the ruins that now feature in the current temple, which was rebuilt in 1963. Be sure to admire the sights, including a sweeping view of the sea.

Stop At: Pigeon Island National Park, Public Beach Road, Nilaveli 31010 Sri Lanka
The Pigeon island national park is one of the finest places where coral is grown. This name derives from the Rock pigeon which was once used as a shooting range by the British colonials. The island was declared as a sanctuary in 1963 and upgraded to a national park in 2003. You can go for boat trips from the Nilaveli beach for a round trip with the operators. Within 15 minutes you will be at the islands where coral reefs are covering and thousands of pigeons. Hence take a tour up to the rock island to take a look at the Nilaveli from the island.

Day 2: Trincomalee - Negombo
Stop At: Fort Frederick, Trincomalee Town, Trincomalee 31000 Sri Lanka
Ford Frederick is a colonial fort by the Portuguese in the Trincomalee Town. The Fort is well known to house within it, the Koneswaram Temple, yet another attraction in this area. Captured by a Dutch fleet, the Fort was re-created, to defend against any threats from the British and the French. Currently, it is manned by the Sri Lankan Army and is an alluring tourist destination depicting the footprints left behind by the Portuguese, the Dutch and the British.

Marble Beach, also known as Marble Bay Beach, is another fine beach in Sri Lanka. The beach is situated at the Marble Bay that comes within the Trincomalee’s natural harbor area. When the day is bright and the sea is calm, you can see the surface shining like a marble and that’s how the name is derived.

Stop At: Trincomalee War Cemetery, Nilaveli Road, Trincomalee 31000 Sri Lanka
After Singapore fell to the Japanese in World War II, Trincomalee became the main naval and air base for the British and allied powers in South Asia. The cemetery contains the graves of 364 soldiers of the British Empire who were killed or died during World War II. Nationalities include Sri Lanka, India, Canada, France, Netherlands, New Zealand, Italy, East Africa, South Africa, Myanmar and Pakistan.
