About the Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado
This National Park is a must-visit attraction. It is located in one hour and a half from the City and County of Denver, Colorado. This is the ideal place for outdoor activities and summer day tours. Denver is situated east of the Front Range of the mountains. Denver has many parks and recreation centers.
The park welcomes more than 4 million visitors each year. It is a real kingdom for people who love outdoor tours. The whole area has 365 miles of hiking trails, 77 mountains, and 147 lakes.
You can also discover amazing wildlife while having fun adventures. The park offers also amazing views of the mountains. There are both summer and winter activities as well.
Rocky Mountain Park has 600 buildings. It’s good to know, that there have been twice more buildings in the past. But, in the twentieth century, the management decided to destroy them.
Activities in Rocky Mountain National Park
The vast area and friendly atmosphere are a great playground for various adventures. Apart from exciting zipline tours, you can practice the following activities:
Hiking
The park offers 365 miles of climbing trails. From the lake hikes, we highly recommend the Cub Lake hike. The length of this trail is 2.3 miles. From the waterfall hikes, you can try Timberline Falls. This is the longest trail (4,1 miles). If you would like to try summit hikes, you can pick up the Deer Mountain. This is the easiest climb (elevation gain of 1093’).
Scenic Drives
You can discover the diverse ecosystem of the Rocky Mountain Park while driving. You’ll discover lowland meadows, rivers, and subalpine forests.
Wildlife watching and Photography
If you love wild animals, this is the right place to discover them. There are around 60 species of mammals, 280 bird species, 11 species of fish and insects in the Park. Of course, each animal has the best time to be observed.
Picnic
The park offers a friendly atmosphere and is great for family gatherings. There are many areas with a great view. This will allow you to fully enjoy your family getaways.
Camping
Many campgrounds are available in the Rocky Mountain. Fun activities are waiting for you if you book in advance. Remember, that the places are limited. So, make sure that you book in advance (from one day to six months).
Fishing
The Rocky Mountain is a protected area. But, it’s still possible to go there for some fishing experience. The management tries to maintain a good balance between fishing and the protection of the ecosystem.
Horse riding
The area has two stables accessible to ride a horse. The stables are open around Memorial day in late May. We recommend to contact the management to find out the exact locations of the allowed areas.
Colorado Rafting Tour
The mountain park has many options to experience rafting. The rafting is accessible for families with kids and groups of adventure-seekers.

We had the best time ziplining. Our tour guides were so funny. On top of the fun we had ziplining, our interaction with them made it an evener better day for all of my family.
