The Creek is the very heart and soul of Dubai. Historically, the creek divides the city into two main areas - Deira and Bur Dubai and it were along the Bur Dubai creek area that members of the Bani Yas tribe first settled in the 19th century. The creek, being a natural harbor, remained an important element in establishing the commercial position of Dubai - and still today you find wooden dhows unloading their cargo, and of course the traditional souks on either side of the creek
