There is no better way to start your street photography tour of old Dubai than at one of the busiest stations on the Metro's Green Line — Baniyas Square. Additionally, it is located in the most central section of Deira, making it an ultra-accessible stop. Take a seat in the walk-through park and observe as masses of people of differing cultures and nationalities busily get on with their day. This is definitely a great place to catch some portraits. Naif Souq—meaning marketplace in the Arab world—is a place with more than 265 stores selling various goods from jewellery to clothing and even local food. Most importantly, if you are looking for souvenirs which you wouldn’t find at the airport, this place offers you a wide variety of items. Al Naif is also the homeland of most popular Mosque in Deira—Naif Mosque—first built in 1948. Not surprisingly, within the immediate vicinity of this Mosque, you can find a variety of shops and restaurants which are seriously worth stepping in to. The foot traffic and the cultural diversity in this area makes it the perfect portrait stop. Helpful hint: if you are interested in taking portraits of people, it is better to approach them and introduce yourself. Based on our experience, they will be more than happy to pose. Avoid sneaking a picture. This applies especially to women, as they often do not like to be photographed by strangers.

Dubai’s advantageous location has facilitated the development of its massive gold industry. Annually, about 40% of the world’s gold passes through Dubai, and much of it lands in Dubai’s Gold Souq, which houses over 370 gold retail stores. The Gold Souq is a top destination for many as Dubai’s gold prices are globally competitive. Moreover, due to regulations imposed by the authorities, consumers can rest assured that the gold they purchase is of the highest quality and purity. You have to witness the phenomenon that is the Gold Souq for yourself.
