The tale of the Nutcracker is brought to life by the St. Petersburg Ballet Theater. The original ballet score, composed by the legendary Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky is one of the most famous compositions in the world. The ShowThe story follows the young Clara Stahlbaum, who receives a strange gift from her mysterious godfather, Drosselmeyer. The gift is a nutcracker, and Clara has no idea why she was gifted such a device. During midnight, a strange enchantment surrounds the house, and the Nutcracker springs to life to fight the evil forces of the Rat King. Tchaikovsky’s timeless score, which includes gems such as the Trepak, which is the traditional Russian dance, Waltz of the Flowers, March, and Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy are breathtaking to hear in person. You can also hear the celesta, a musical instrument that was created by Tchaikovsky himself, that he believed had a sweet heavenly sound. The synchronization and choreography are top notch and is sure to take your breath away. The ballet dancers keep up with the brilliance of Tchaikovsky’s score, something that requires near flawless execution.
