Kerry Way - Self Guided - 7 Days
7 days
About this activity
At 215km (134 miles), the Kerry Way is Ireland’s longest and most popular marked walking trail. Our 7-day tour will take you through 124km (77 miles) of some of the most stunning landscapes found in the country. Our journey begins in the quiet village of Glenbeigh and finishes in the lively town of Killarney. Along with our scenic route, you will come across charming market towns and villages, old roads, historic castles, traditional Irish farms and beautiful lakes, rivers, and streams. Circling around the Iveragh Peninsula, you will travel counter-clockwise along the route, passing through many of the hidden and stunning landscapes in Ireland. While Kerry is famous for having Ireland’s highest mountains, the Kerry Way travels along the lower paths of the mountain ridges. This trail is designed to show the diverse landscapes Ireland has to offer while giving the walker a greater appreciation for the land. The Kerry Way can be completed in nine days but this can be very demanding to accomplish. For those that want to experience the Kerry Way in a more casual manner, we suggest allowing extra time throughout your journey. This time can be used for rest days or to decrease the distance walked each day. Any long distance walking trail will test your physical endurance and our Walking Advice page contains many useful tips and pointers that we recommend everyone read before embarking on this journey.
