About this activity
We meet centrally at the Celtic Whiskey Store in Dawson Street in downtown Dublin. You board our transport just outside the shop and we're headed south to Powerscourt Estate in Co. Wicklow. We start with a quick glance inside of Powerscourt House & Gardens before heading over to Powerscourt Distillery where you enjoy a guided tour of the plant, visit to the onsite maturation warehouse and whiskey tasting.
We're off to Glendalough next, where you'll see an ancient monastic site. It's quite relevant as it was Irish missionary monks who invented Irish whiskey! We'll facilitate a stop at the Wicklow Heather pub beside the site for lunch (not included). Our next visit is Royal Oak Distillery in Co. Carlow. We have a fully guided tour with a tasting of either their Irishman Founder’s Reserve or Writers’ Tears Copper Pot.
Our next visit is quite special as we see Ballykeefe artisan family farm distillery - a proper working farm with a distillery onsite! We tour the grounds and finish with tastings of their extra dry gin, artisan vodka and poitin. We finish today in Kilkenny - the most prominent medieval city in Ireland. It's also a really fun town! Enjoy a stroll through the city, grab a pint of their local famous ale, Smithwicks, or a nice dinner before we get you on a rail service back to Dublin in the evening time.
